Hamilchrist is our only allstar to this point this year. he's up over 20rbi already and is putting everyone else to shame in that category. and yes, hunk-of-the-week will be great, even though that boston game a while back was as ugly as it gets. still, we suck suck suck and need to make some MAJOR changes in the front office (john daniels is a fucking idiot, ron washington, the "fielding expert" apparently hasn't noticed our record number of errors, and rudy haramillo, the "best batting instructor in baseball"--i'll just leave that one at that)

i'll tell you what i've realized, since i've BEEN ABLE TO GO TO SEVERAL GAMES SINCE I LIVE IN DALLAS. when we play dump and chase (namely, when we flip the puck in high and slow to the boards and try to go get it), we suck. but we are EXTREMELY good at slapping the puck around the boards, letting it ride the wall, controlling it on the other side, and then setting up from there. that's when we're effective and it worked every game against the ducks. the sharks coming up are going to be pesky and i don't think they'll make as many dumb ass mistakes as the ducks did, so we have to make sure and capitalize on any special teams opportunity we get. our young defensemen have looked GREAT, and robidas was MVP of the series. now we should get zubanious back and boucher...things are looking good. i've also purchased 2 stars hats and retired "the hat" for good luck...plus we have the lucky hot dog...stanley cup baby!

the bottom line is avery doesn't know what to do with jason kidd and hasn't since he got here. i think he either wasn't a supporter of the trade or just can't handle having a guy barely younger than him still playing and trying to run his offense. avery still has the mindset that he's a pointguard, only wearing a suit and on the bench. i think that some day he will find great great success in this league, but his time here is up and it's not his fault. like you said, he has a mentally fucked team thanks to miami and we're not gonna get over that until this thing is shaken up. everyone said i was an asshole, but if we hadn't made the playoffs, we would have a lottery pick and there are a number of good point guards coming out (ehem, dj). instead, we're the oldest team in the league with a bunch of untradable players and no first round draft picks...next year is going to suck. at least the rangers are good

Ive been looking at the draft prospects and hibbert might be there.... I'm not sold on him as an NBA player but theres a thought there. Among many others I think we could get a quality player there... But Avery may or may not be fired but Kidd and Howard both need to go. I think the bulls might be interested in howard, or maybe the hawks... I still want the Mavs to make the playoffs tho, but we are the oldest starting lineup in the NBA as far as i know... and thats not gonna get it done.

As i watched the mavs score 70 points in the first half and shoot 70 percent, i was still convinced the mavs were going to lose this game. We were only up by ten points after playing the best possible half we could without dirk. meanwhile denver had an ok half and was only ten points down. I knew josh would disapear in the second half like always, and with dirk out and josh unable to score in the second half, who was gonna step up and score for us? no one....the fan in me is dying for them to make the playoffs and there is this tiny place in my head that thinks that if dirk is 100% we can beat anyone on any given night, but when i try and think about it without a bias, i hope the mavs dont make it so we can get a lottery pick. ahh the painful musings of a dallas sports fan!

The worst part of all this is when you look at next year. sadly, we need to miss the playoffs just so we can get a first round pick. We traded our first round pick in the Kidd trade unless its a lottery pick. We don't really have much to trade and we're getting old fast. Meanwhile, the west is getting better every year, and is young. Portland will get Oden back next year and they got some good experience this season and are going to be a good team next year. The Lakers, Jazz, and Hornets are all very good and very young teams and should all just be getting better over the next few years. The rockets will be good again next year, but once the seven plus foot asian or the alien eyed t mac go down they'll be out. The spurs will be up there again next season with parker still young and ginobli having the best season of his career, and lets not forget duncan who doesnt miss in the playoffs. Anyways the question is what are the mavs going to do? We have seven free agents this off season, mostly all spares, so theres going to be some new faces, but who? We need a better two guard and a big man. Emphasis on big man...I guess all we can do is pray there will be one of them in free agency this off season, bc we dont have dick to trade.
